Assalamu Alaikum and Greetings of Peace,

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Oklahoma Muslim community for their participation in this pivotal election. I am proud of our community’s unwavering commitment to mobilizing for a brighter future, despite the deep frustration and disillusionment we feel about Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.

In the lead-up to the election, CAIR Oklahoma diligently engaged with our community, hosting voter registration drives and an in-person candidate forum, distributing information at events, and crafting a detailed guide to the elections via our Oklahoma Muslim Voter Portal. While our collective participation in the civic process has been commendable, I acknowledge that many of our community members are grappling with the uncertainty that the election results may bring.

The re-election of Donald Trump has reignited concerns among many of us who recall the heightened climate of fear and hostility that followed his first election in 2016. We have not forgotten the pervasive Islamophobia, xenophobia, and racism that characterized Trump’s presidency, which culminated in the enactment of the Muslim Ban and fueled one of the most significant waves of hate targeting American Muslims that CAIR Oklahoma has witnessed in its history.

Undeterred by these formidable challenges, CAIR Oklahoma has remained steadfast in its unwavering commitment to defending the civil rights, safety, and dignity of American Muslims and every community facing injustice. We are resolute in our resolve and prepared to confront every threat that faces our community.

No matter who holds office, our work does not stop. As Trump builds on his legacy of hate and division, CAIR Oklahoma will continue to build our legacy of justice and freedom for all people everywhere.
Sincerely,

Adam Soltani
Executive Director, CAIR Oklahoma
