(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, 10/16/2024) –The Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-OK), Let’s Fix This, and a coalition of other organizations are announcing a Candidate Forum to take place at the Cole Community Center on Thursday, October 17, at 6:00 PM.

WHAT: Northwest OKC Candidates Meet & Greet
WHERE: Cole Community Center, 4400 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City

This event brings candidates from Northwest Oklahoma City to a relaxed, “meet and greet” style event at which voters and participants will have the opportunity to move between tables, meet directly with the candidates, and ask their own questions about issues important to their community.

“We believe the best way for voters to make informed decisions is to get to know the candidates themselves,” said CAIR-OK Deputy Director Veronica Laizure. “This type of event is unique in that candidates will be responding to invitations in real-time, rather than giving planned responses to limited questions in a debate.”

“The presidential race gets the headlines, but local races are what affect Oklahomans’ lives most directly,” said Andy Moore, CEO of Let’s Fix This. “These candidates are our neighbors; they shop at the same grocery stores and drive on the same roads as us. It’s important we know who they are and what they stand for.”

Sponsoring organizations also shared that the nonpartisan event is free and open to the public. Invitations were extended to candidates for the state House of Representatives, state Senate, U.S. Congress for CD-5, Oklahoma County Sheriff, and Corporation Commissioner.
